Sometimes an exciting, new artist arrives on a music scene and it turns out he’s been here all along. Cam Biehle is releasing his self-titled album in Spring 2017, and while he may be viewed as a new face in Austin, he is aiming for a breakthrough that has been a long time coming. Biehle is definitely no stranger to the Live Music Capital of the World; as a native born and raised, he has long been steeped in the unique musical culture of the Texas landscape. “Being in Austin can change your perspective on music,” he notes, and indeed his influences wander the map from George Strait and Alan Jackson to the Motown records his dad used to play on hunting and fishing trips when Cam was a kid. Boz Scaggs and Tony Bennett co-existed with Clint Black in Cam’s formative years, and you can heard it in his voice and melodies that stretch out of the pure country tradition and land solidly with a little bit of funk, a little bit of soul, and a lot of energy. Indeed, Biehle seems to approach life and music with a single-minded vigor that is hard not to champion. The focus for his energy came from Rubicon Studios, nestled in South Austin where producer Daniel Barrett worked with Biehle to capture the carefree vibe in a collection of songs that still cut to the heart of what matters; love, family, strong bonds, and having a good time. “Had A Good Run” will be the first featured release from the album, and Biehle is more than ready to expand his musical horizons in his home state and beyond. Austin will be hard-pressed to find a more ready, charismatic ambassador for its musical melting pot.
