I usually shoot with a huge camera with a battery pack and Canon L lenses… but I travel a ton and like to take photos while going out and love to sneak camera’s into events. This is why I bought the Canon EOSm camera with the 22mm f/2.0 lens. I had high expectations because it has the same sensor as the 7D and I use the 7D on a regular basis. I use the EOSm with the 22mm kit lens often but I also used my Canon 35mm F/1.4, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8 lenses with an adapter.
Here is the EOSm with a large RODE mic:
Pros – This camera is super fast. You can also set a delay and choose the number of photos you want it to take (great for taking 10 pictures with a group.) The quality is outstanding – both photos and video. The camera is very small but the build feels really nice.
Cons – Auto-focus is really poor [you have have to focus somewhere else and then back on the subject to get the shot, especially during concerts.] There is only a digital viewfinder which is annoying when is bright outside. No on camera flash. This isn’t a big deal for me but it’s kinda a pain if you need more light and didn’t bring an external flash.
Bottom Line – The Canon EOSm is only $339 on Amazon and you really just can’t beat that deal IF you have Canon lenses and want a very mobile inexpensive body.
