SXSW’13 kicked off with a bang for me… one of those loud cannon, 100mph speeding bullet, sledgehammer bangs. I live a block from Rainey Street so throughout the week I’m seeing the crews setting up stages, tents, food trucks and bars being taking over by tech companies. This gets you extremely excited and the energy is all around you. Friday night started at a event sponsored by Microsoft at Bangers which had all the basics of a good SXSW party – free food and booze. Friday ended up being a late, late night and made Saturday a bit difficult. I volunteer for southby and have to be up bright and early at 8am so I was moving a bit slow. This year didn’t disappoint with the usual hipsterness and thousands of people out and about. I went to some great Interactive session and screened a really great film called ‘These Birds Walk’ – the directors, Omar Mullick & Bassam Tariq, were great guys. Here are a few pics from Saturday.. stayed tuned for many more pictures from SXSW 2013.
